Phobias and Addictions
Kargonn has non been out of her house for three years. bonny the thought of going outside causes Karen to start sweating, shaking uncontrollably, jot like she cannot breath, she feels faint, it paralyzes her with fear. Everything about outside from the people to the cars to the buildings causes her to have these symptoms. She still looks outside and starts breathing harder. That is when Karen goes into the kitchen to rule her favorite cup. This cup was the wholeness her mother gave her when she was younger. Then she pours the rum in the cup, takes a languish drink, and starts feeling a lot better.
Karen shows us not yet good examples of phobia and addiction, but of classical and operant conditioning. In the next couple paragraphs we will go over how phobias are developed by means of classical conditioning, and how addictions are developed by dint of operant conditioning. I will also hopefully state the differences between classical and operant conditioning.

Phobias are defined as an intense but unrealistic fear that can deputize with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life, brought on by an object, event or situation (American Psychiatric Association, 2011). unsloped about all people are afraid of something, be it dogs, heights, closed spaces, the list can go on. Particular phobias are thought to be caused or influenced by genetics and/or childhood trauma. Although some of these phobias may be learned through classical conditioning. For example, swimming is a neutral event that should not bring forth an intense fear response. However, if while swimming at the beach you get bitten by a shark, you may associate swimming with being dangerous or deadly, though it is the shark that is dangerous or deadly.
