Jem and outlook reside in the quiet and small county of Maycomb, Mississippi. Like any other child, the both siblings enjoy playing outdoors. However, a criminal trial of rape at the county court has great repercussion on the sanies of Jem and Scout emotionally as well as mentally. all over the course of the trial, because their start out, Atticus, is the representing defense attorney they have time to jab into the meaning of justice and human equality. The result of the trial has a big impact for the rest of their life.
Physically, Jem experiences rapid growth. He matures from a child to a young adult. Early on, he endlessly asks for a gun from his father, Atticus, and constantly pesters his father to play sports with him. As time passes, possibly seeing other more outstanding life event happening around him, his childish badger gradually subsides. To show his adulthood, Jem, in one instant, happily states his mildly growing chest hair to his sister as in He unbuttoned his shirt, grinning shyly…well its hair (Lee 225). His intention is to try to get his fathers attention as he slowly becomes an admirer of a lawyer who defends justice.
