Baseball is more than just a sport in Boston. The game means a lot to the many generations of families who grew up cheering for the vehement Sox. In six years they won 4 championships between 1912 and 1918. On December 26th, 1919, Harry Frazee, the owner of the red sox at the time, sold Babe Ruth, their best player, to the Yankees for bullion to finance a Broadway play. That started what would later be called, The Curse of the Bambino. The reddened Sox went 84 years without winning a world serial publication resulting in letdown after letdown. That didnt stop the fans of the team from worshiping the departure Sox. Much of the people of Boston follow the team religiously. My aim and I were avid inflammation Sox fans. My father has followed the sox since the late 1950s so you can imagine how many times he saw them loose. This didnt stop him from cheering for them every year. We went to a lot of games together, some better than others. I saw the Red Sox beat the Yankees 22-7, but that doesnt come close to the consequence of the game we went to on April 27th, 2002.
It was the beginning of the season where the game wasnt supposed to mean anything special. My father and I didnt bang; we loved visiting Fenway Park, the home of the Red Sox.



Everything from the train switch on into Boston, to the moment you left the park was an indelible experience. The moment you offer into the park you can sense the dense, monumental history. As we walked to our seats, in owe of the green monster, we watched the players take their batting practice. Hearing the choke of the wood hitting the ball was more therapeutic indeed any counseling session. You could say the same for the taste of a Fenway Frank.
The crowd settled in and the players took the field. Derek Lowe was pitching for the Red Sox as they took on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Tickets were cheaper when we played the devil rays because the deficiency of talent the team displayed.
