In A Rose for Emily, William Faulkner is letting the world cope that he is a tormented man. In this morbid suddenly story faulkner makes it appargonnt that women are selfish and beneath him. He is real descriptive with his wording.
Faulkner lets it be cognize that he feels women are beneath men from the very beginning. He is talking to the highest degree the town going to the funeral. He claims the men went out of regardful affection but goes to say that the women went mainly out of curiousity. He does not feel that the women could cod went out of respect nor does he seem to think that men can be only as curious and selfish. He automatically puts a percentage there. Then he goes on to let it be known that women are ignorant. When Faulkner explains the tale that Colonel Sartoris created to help Miss Emily out he stated, Only a man of Colonel Sartoris generation and thought could have invented it, and only a adult female could have believed it. He is implying that women are not intelligent enough to read through the lies and silliness. He believes that a man would have known better when in reality women have just as much keenness and common sense as men do. Faulkner seems to easily humiliate stubborness with lack of intelligence. The newer generation keeps sending Miss Emily notices that she needs to incision paying taxes.

She keeps telling them to speak to Colonel Sartoris, but then were told that he had been deceased for nearly a decade. Miss Emily was not ignorant, she was in denial. She didnt want to accept change.
