Health communication has changed in many ways everyplace history. I have personally been able to experience close to of these changes personally. Medical records used to be all written come out by hand as well as prescriptions. Records were much kept in a file located on a shelf or in a register cabinet gravelible by staff. Now medical records ar most often stored in an electronic file on office computers. Some are set up in a manner that multiple personnel can access the same record at once. Prescriptions are often called into the apothecarys shop by the physician or one of the nurses. If not by phone abouttimes they are faxed or even move through a secure website to the pharmacy similar to an email. I have viewed prescriptions creation faxed and had the electronic prescription explained to me by some close friends who work in the field. It has definitely made the change faster but in some aspects doubled the workload.

The system can also have issues with crashing causing the transfer of knowledge not to come through and fax machines can flummox backed up from the volume of prescriptions coming through a busy pharmacy. I have never experienced telemedicine or the use of video phone as a factor of treatment or communication between physician and patient. I can see where this could be useful for patients who may not be in the condition to travel and todays physician very rarely makes house calls. It would be interest to experience these two forms of communication in a heart and soul of treatment.
