Name: Tan Wei Jie Class: TR03 Student number: S10115916J It was a great privilege to achieve the CEM 40-hour practicum by working stead by side my polytechnic friends in the annual worldwide Furniture Fair capital of capital of Singapore 2012 (IFFS). The moment was also held in conjunction with the 29th ASEAN Furniture Show (AFS) which consolidates the largest collection of exhibitors from China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, out of doors of their respective country trade fairs. This major event took side during the 9th to 12th of March 2012 with Deco Asia 2012 and The Hospitality Show 2012 co-locating with IFFS/AFS 2012 at Singapore Expo. Being such a successful annual event ever since 1981, 7 out of 9 h on the wholes, from hall 2 to 9 were booked throughout the 4 days. There are even years when the entire Singapore Expo 9 halls were booked for the event, which is a feat not many events in Singapore can match up with. One of the reasons IFFS was started is because gumption then, it represented Singapore in the ASEAN Federation of Furniture Manufacturers necktie (AFFMA) as a constituent member.

IFFS/AFS 2012 was manoeuverd by transnational Furniture Fair Singapore Pte Ltd (IFFS Pte Ltd) whose primary objectives are to organize & manage furniture and furniture-related fairs, exhibitions, shows, conferences and other events worldwide. Flown from 26 countries all over the world, from 512 companies, exhibitors had a choice of raw space, blast contrivance or upgrade shell scheme at Singapore Expo for their display. 80% of exhibitors were from the ASEAN regions and of total exhibitors, 30% are first-timers. Without a doubt, most of the exhibitors chose raw space instead of any shell schemes. This enabled them to be creative with the display of their furniture and also allowed a spacious walkway between furniture for visitors and buyers to walk just about and view.
